Fort Mountain

6/19 - 21/2015. Very nice campground. It is interesting how the Georgia State Park system does their reservation system. You reserve the nights you want to stay, but you can't pick a specific site. When you arrive at the camp ground you drive around until you find an empty site. There are nice hiking trails at this campground.

The park derives its name from a 885 ft wall of rocks on the peak dating back to 500 AD of unknown origins. Also a CCC fire tower near the wall is lovingly restored. Enjoyed the lake hike and ridge hike to the wall and tower. Campsites are not crowded together and even during peak season for fall colors there were lots of available sites. Bathhouse was clean with plenty of hotwater and nice showers.
