Hammocks

Almost two years ago, I think, I placed an order on Kickstarter for two hammocks that have an attached frame and don't need to be tied to any trees. They finally arrived last night, and we are currently stretching out the fabric to get them ready for a week-long adventure near Durango, CO in July. I will post photos later. I suspect they will stay set up in our living room for a few weeks while we encourage everyone to sit in them to help get them loose and comfortable!

Our hammocks included a sun shade (it's my least favorite accessory, to be honest; I do wish I had ordered the mosquito net instead), an underquilt and top quilt, an attachable pillow, and a stake-able mat for shoes. each hammock has a large mesh pocket underneath with two cup holders and pockets along the sides of the hammock for your small stuff (glasses, keys, books, camera, etc.).

The company is called Durable Goods, and the hammocks are called "Mock One." Although they are advertised as "light" and "take anywhere," they come in a large carry case, and they're definitely too heavy for backpacking, but perfect to set up at a campsite next to your Camp Inn.

Very well executed, but according to the pictures it will not work for backpacking because of the sheer size and weight.

I used a beach inflatable sofa for this purpose, for a couple of trips, but it turn to be pretty heavy to carry in the back pack.
and another disadvantage is that it deflates within a couple of hours. So if anyone is considering this as an option to sleep - it's a bad idea

After leaving these up for a few days, I can say that they're very nice. We're pretty short (I'm currently the tallest at under 5'5"). I would think it would not be great for people over 6', but we all fit just fine. It is DEFINITELY NOT FOR BACKPACKING. But, these will work well in lieu of uncomfortable cots for my teens to sleep in, or as hammocks when there are no trees available. When the trees are available, a real hammock is still ideal.
