Hello,

I've been looking for a RV for about three months. If I decide on a teardrop it will most likely be the 560 ultra. I really like the look of the Moby1 XTR Trailer but have not found any feedback from owners (actually, I've not found anyone who owns one).

I have two kids and the wife so the bunks sold me on the 560. The lack of a bathroom was an initial issue with the wife but after I pointed out that we don't have a bathroom in our tents, she warmed up to the idea.

I'm off to read every post on here. Thanks to all you owners out there that help make the decision easier.

I would want to take a hard look at the 560. In other words find someone with the 560 that will let you and your kids and wife aboard and see if you have room. Kids do grow. I think the 550 and 560 are fine camping trailers for two people just not sure if you would be happy with 4 people in one.

Just my two cents worth.

I'm planning to take a trip to Necedah and Utah to check out the Camp-Inn and the Moby1. I couldn't agree more that we will need to check it out.

We visited several RV dealerships and came away with a very different impression from what we had by browsing websites.

I wonder if a rack mount tent option as shown on the Moby1 is possible with the 560? Something to think about. Though, I'm not sure if just having a few tents off to the side for the kids wouldn't achieve the same result?

I have spent the last 2 years camping with my son (now 5) in our 560. Those bunks sold me, as did the fact that I could manage everything on my own (without my husband). He joins us on some of our trips (mainly the weekend ones), but I get out for longer ones with my son to other places (last year it was the Redwood, this year Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and maybe the Lake Louise area). Bathrooms have not been an issue for us either. I have a portable toilet I can use if needed, or we use campground facilities. My son is on the taller side for his age, and is still fitting in the bunks fine (he is 45" tall now). Eventually he will outgrow the bunks and will either crawl into bed with me, if my husband isn't with us, or he can crawl into a tent or the car and sleep there (which once he starts bringing friends is probably more likely).

The Moby looks like a very nice trailer also.
We just got our 560 in Oct. and were just able to use it for a week. Man we love it. We are busy getting it ready for our March trip.
Check out the Cleanwaste PETT toilet from REI. It folds and fits in one of the under matress storage compartments.

We don't have a CI yet, but are dreaming of a 560!
I joined the forum as I could see adding to the discussion of different destinations as we have camped from the west to the east coast.
Feel free to share your tenting travels.
 
Take a look at the R-pod trailer by Forest River. It is a teardrop plus. You can walk into it, it is light, and it costs about $16K. It may be more to your liking for 4 people. -Lou
 
another alternative (though I don't see the appeal over a normal tent) is to have a tent on top of the tow vehicle. I believe Range Rover makes a tent that mounts on a RR roof. Maybe there are other such tents?

Apparently at some music festivals (i.e. Coachella; Burning Man), you are allocated a VERY small space, so there is great benefit to going vertical. He cooks and sells food at these festivals, so he went vertical with his sleeping so he could have a large kitchen area on the ground at his site.

Kids should sleep on the ground. They don't need to be pampered like us old folks. :) And it's GOOD for them to get scared.
