Hoh Rainforest (Olympic NP)

Big trees are the hallmark of this temperate rainforest, such as this Sitka Spruce.

The trail system is wonderful with three very easy trails that have wonderful sights on them and a much longer trail for backpackers or serious day hikers.

Lots of these large trees started out growing on nurse logs which results in beautiful root formations.

The Hoh rainforest is one of the "must see" places in Washington. The campground is typical for a national park, very nice campground and facilities but no hookups and no showers. The campgrounds themselves are amazing with huge trees, river views and a very nice visitor center. I've only ever visited in the month of August and always had very good weather but in any other month, well it isn't called a rainforest for nothing.

We were in the Hoh Rainforest in late June. We did not have rain and had a beautiful campsite right on the river. We were told when we entered that if the Elk came into our campground to just back up and let them have their way. We watched a good size heard of them on the river bottoms about 30 feet from our spot - quite a sight. we were surprised that in such a moist area we did not have any bugs. Beautiful peaceful spot. May go back.

Yah, it's something to see. Backpacked it, up to the mountain... fun... Trees are amazing and the moss on them, really kewl..

Wow! We have to go to this spot for sure! I've been squeaking to Jim about visiting La Push and this is in the neighborhood.
