Iso Of A Refrigerator

My recent trip I had issues with my version of that model. I had it set to 41 degrees yet things at the bottom froze. The difference is I also have the BougeRV insulation cover. It has vents in the appropriate locations.

Do you think it's why I had issues? The cover restricting air flow too much? I was thinking of just transporting it in the Jeep instead of the camper. Perhaps next trip don't use the cover and keep it in the camper. Thanks.

Unfortunately, that can be a problem with all of them, since small fridge/freezers like these don't have a fan to circulate the air within the refrigerated compartment, so instead physics take precedent, and gravity causes the cold dense air to settle to the bottom of the compartment. Not much you can do except pack things in the bottom that won't suffer if they freeze, and the other stuff near the top. I did cut some bubble wrap to the width and length of the compartment, and placed frozen items beneath, and refrigerated item on top, which helped. Some foam insulation would probably work too, but that's what is appealing about the Bouge dual zone units, since you can set them to different temps., and set the refrigerated side high enough not to freeze.

I set ours to 43-46 and get some frost, but my eggs and cheese do not freeze. “Delicate” or leafy greens do not fare well unless I pickled them first and store them in jars. I do not believe the temperature gauge is particularly accurate on portable fridges. There are so many variables.

I bought the Bouge based upon a positive review by Hobotech YouTube channel. My old fridge would not fit in my new 550 hence why I needed a new one. I don't remember my old fridge having this problem, but there are differences - I always kept it in the back of the Jeep so it was not so enclosed. Another downside the old fridge is really heavy and I'm getting old. :)

I'm going to test both and will put a thermometer inside to compare to the gauge.
