Joy Ahoy - 2nd Adventure - The Long Haul!

Jenn,
I think one of the best parts of this forum is getting ideas on destinations, camping techniques, equipment....etc.

A big shout out to all the participants, new and experienced!!
Dave

We are all new at something if we are going to continue to live a life of discovery. And that is what this forum is all about, people who insist on continuing to live a life of discovery and are willing to share and discuss those "discoveries" with others. I happen to live in the southwest so learned the hard way how quickly the shadow of an overhead shade moves from west to east. On the other hand I suppose it must move just as quickly in Ohio but the impact just doesn't seem the same. :-)

Hi Kathy & Bob...

Don't know if Dave & Rene stayed at a park campground, but I was reading through her long haul post and came across your question. Bruce & I have stayed at one of the campgrounds in the park during August of 2008. We also drove through another the year before to check out the campsites after we had a less than desirable stay at the KOA that year. Both campgrounds had nice sites. We were tent campers at the time so I don't know if there were electric or water hook-ups, didn't really care at the time. Each had flush toilets, but no showers in the park. Local establishments right outside the campground entrances offered showers for a fee; take lots of quarters! Because we were there in peak tourist season without reservations we had to go to the check-in station two mornings to see if we could remain in our site since it was reserved by other campers, but they didn't show (drizzly weather) so that was only a minor inconvenience. Acadia is a great park, lots of nice hikes, carriage roads for biking, shuttles to get around easily. Add the beauty of Maine rugged coast and you have something wonderful!
