Lock the pin on the swivel jack!

This is what happens to your Camp-Inn when you don't check to make sure the pin is locked on the swivel jack before pushing it around in the garage...

Yep, those are my fingers. One of my brothers locked the pin and said it was good to go, so I grabbed underneath the tongue and pull the trailer towards me. I still don't know how I got my fingers out from under it after it fell, because it took three of us to lift it back up afterwards. My brothers took ghoulish pleasure in drilling the hole in my fingernail.

This was a painful lesson, but luckily no permanent damage. :cry:
 
OWW! And no broken bones? You WERE lucky. I wouldn't be surprised if that nail comes off...
 
Freakin ouch!

Part of the new trailer orientation I do is showing customers to always "man handle" the jack a bit after locking it in the up position. Just to make sure it really is locked. Don't know if it will make you feel better at all Evan but you are certainly not the first to drop their tongue thinking they had the jack locked. One customer managed to drop it on his toe while wearing sandals. His toenail looked alot like your finger.

My brother actually talked out loud as he was setting it "Hmm, is the pin in... nope... OK, there it goes..." - only it didn't.
I think the pin was a bit sticky after sitting in the garage all winter. It probably needs some WD-40.

In the future, you can be sure I will first check the pin myself, and also not put my fingers under the ball socket while moving it around.
 
I got the finger x-rayed and the bone is crushed. Doc says it should heal fine though.
