NAME THAT DROP

As I mentioned in another thread we are thinking of naming our 560 Ultra "Nepenthe" after the ancient Greek drug that cures all sorrow. Of course the story goes (The Odyssey) that it cures your sorrow through "forgetfullness" which can either mean that the sheer pleasure of our upcoming travel and camping experiences will overwhelm any sorrow OR it is the onset of Alzheimer's. We put our money, at least the down payment, on the former.

I like that one too. We've settled on Firefly for our future 560. Partially because of the light out of the kitchen hatch and also in tribute to the spirit of the show Firefly--if you've seen the show you would see why it fits. (: If you haven't seen the show, we highly recommend it. It's fun to see the name everyone's picked out.

Thanks Jenn. Firefly is a short-lived sci-fi show by Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy and Angel). The actor from Castle (Nathan Fillion) and some other great folks are in it. The best way to describe it would be cowboys (with a conscience) in space. Their ship Serenity is a "Class A Firefly" cargo ship. The show turned into a cult hit which led to a movie called Serenity. It can be a bit edgy, but the show has real heart to it. If you do watch it, make sure to watch the show first (and then the movie). If you see a Camp-Inn with Firefly written on the back--that'll be us! :)

Here's a poem that explains the thinking behind our teardrop's name.

Ode to Joy Ahoy
The “joy”ful adventure has just begun,
We’re seeking new landscapes under the sun.

We’ll feel the sun upon our faces,
As we pull our teardrop to unknown places.

Oh, to smell the green earth as the breeze passes by,
As we travel the roads ‘neath cerulean skies.

The trails we’ll hike we do not know,
But from park to campsite we will go.

So “Ahoy” to the travels that are to be,
And “Ahoy” to the places that we will see.

It’s not long now ‘till the maiden voyage,
And new experiences for Dave and Rene Hoy!

Too Cute Hoy's! Love it!

Here's mine:

"BigMc", "MiniMc"
Rollin' down the road

One sits still
The other is towed

"BigMc's" home now
Sitting quite still

"MiniMc's" rolling
Through the Texas Hills!

SnuggleBug, Joy Ahoy
Just to name a few

And Suite Retreat can't be beat
With a mountain view!

Ya'll Name that Drop
And get in on the action!

We'll all meet up one day
After LOTS of traction!

Camp Inn-Camp Outt comes along
And gives us all a chance

To gather up and sing a song
And maybe even dance!

September is the month to watch
To gather at the junction

Of Camp Inn's factory
and the Teardrop function

Dutch Ovens will all be
On a low, slow fire

George will be directing
But without any ire!

So come one, and come all
Get ready to have some fun

Bring those Drops and a lot
Of eatin' will be done!

Thanks - I was a poet and didn't know it!

I'm going to compile a list of all the names and see what I can come up with (after this wedding's over!) So get ya'll's names in! Gotta get Cary, Craig & Betsey in there too!

We are probably going to play off of our serial number 420, (which in a subculture refers to another type of high) and go with "Natural High". Merle Haggard's song by the same name has a verse, "You picked me up off of the ground.", since we're no longer tent campers as well. :)

Love the poem Linda! :)

I know you are determined to get our names in there too, but, like I said before, ours doesn't have a name (which means we could be "nameless" or "he who shall not be named"... :D ). And Cary uses the demos, which aren't named either... :o

Being from New Mexico we had to come up with a name that reflected the Spanish heritage of the state. We came up with the name "El Nido" translation: The Nest. When the winds blow and it's cold outside the name says it all.

Ha! clever, I like it

as long as you don't have that tune on a continuous play track when you are in a campground!!

but you know that within a few months you'll be calling it "doobey"

"hey, honey, did you check doobey's battery?"

:-)

Passing time reading old posts until 05/19/15 when we pick up our 560. Have been trying to think of a name since we finally placed our order in Nov. 2014. Think we are going with The "Do" Drop Inn. Love meeting new people in our camping travels.

A nice friendly name and an invitation for people to drop in. The trailer is certainly a way to meet new people. I have always been kind of shy so this whole thing of attracting attention is new to me. I'm getting a little used to it and the trailer is a real ice breaker. Some people take a quick look and others want to know every detail. Fun.
