Itinerary Nw Round-up 2015

Re: NW Round up

Who's lead what??!!! Don't get me started on driving techniques, Jim.

But let that pass... I'm pretty jazzed about the location 'cuz I wanted to go to La Push, Washington on our way to Canada (eh), but there wasn't enough time. We could work it in. Yippie!

Re: NW Round up

Definitely a possibility for us! Last summer we did the amazing IRG using elderly moms in No Cal as home base to get in needed visits with them and to get in some fun camping for us.

What is the dog policy at the campground? Our pups love to camp!

Re: NW Round up

I am thinking Mid July would be best for us too, rather than the 4th weekend. Mick reminded me that we were invited by my aunt for the 4th, and I think we are planning that.

Oregon State Park allow dogs, but they always need to be leashed or in your unit. They are pretty strict about leashes.

Re: NW Round up

Sarah,
Thanks for the dog info. I looked up the park and they have an off leash area near the day use area. Would be perfect to run off energy! Our dogs are used to being on leashes at all times and prefer to be with us -i.e. in the way and under foot. We are diligent picker-uppers, so would not cause problem with rangers or other campers. They did great at IRG and were invited back (without us!).
Any time after mid/late June to August should work for us.

Re: NW Round up

IMPORTANT NW ROUNDUP ??

I just got off the phone with reservations for Silver Falls State Park and they informed me they are re-configuring the sites and eliminating the group rv sites. They say they will now allow us in the group tent sites but will not take reservations till they figure out how they are doing it.

I am at a loss at what to do at this point.

Any suggestions.

Re: NW Round up

Hmmmm.. Well, Krap, that sucks....

During Summer the coast is probably out of the question so interior is probably the place to look. I'll also look around there and post any suggestions. Maybe along the Columbia River like MaryHill, Crow Butte or Deschutes Pics (probably not big enough).

In all fairness to my Southern friends, Oregon, I'm of the opinion that it should be somewhere in Oregon. Like flipping states, one year WA, next year OR... Just my thoughts..

Sigh, I feel your pain Dave, it's not easy..

Re: NW Round up

Dave, check out Champoeg State Heritage Site which is off I-5 exit 278. We stayed there several years ago (pre-teardrop) but Joan has been there more recently.

Re: NW Round up

Kathy, that looks like a good one...

Nice save... 3 group tent sites and one group RV... nice...

Betsey:
Oh yeah...
Camping is a tough job as you well know, but hey, someone has to do it...

Cheers...

Re: NW Round up

Piano is the stereo, Boogie Woogie and Honky Tonk, and tip jar? heheh, Don't add Strawberrys to the Watermelon Margaritas.... it just don't work right... speaking from a mistaken identity experience... or? if you do, double the Tequila...

Fun at Steamboat Rock near Coulee Dam, WA

Re: NW Round up

Yes we may be able to they don't seem to have any system other than calling them every few days. I just have to keep checking back. I will keep everyone updated.

Re: NW Round up

On further checking today. I was told they will not allow any camp trailers of any kind on the tent sites. The only way for us would be for us to book individual camp sites.

This is a great park, but I think the idea was to have a site for a group as we have had at Mossyrock Park.

Joan, you are welcome to check other areas and if you come up with something, great or if we get enought interest as may of us that could agree on dates could book individual rv sites that are adjacent to each other.

Wish I had better news.

Dave

Re: NW Round up

Thanks for all your checking and rechecking. Sometimes the answer you get depends on which person you talk to. There just doesn't seem to be any consistancy to the rules. I really hope you can find something with a group site. I like the idea of the whole group being together rather than individual camp sites although if we could reserve one end or section of a campground for the group it might work out fine. Though probably more expensive.

Re: NW Round up

That is strange because they allow us to camp in the tent sites within the regular campground. Oh well. We are pretty early planning (I don't think Mossyrock was reserved until Jan or Feb), but if we all want to be in one group, I suppose it is necessary.
