October 2025 Urgent update on Certificate Issue

Sweeney

Dear Forum Members,

Security certificates encrypt data and verify our website’s identity, ensuring safe and trusted connections for all users. These certificates are issued by a 3'rd party, and have expiration dates, and ours recently passed, triggering the certificate error you saw in your browser. Without a valid certificate, browsers will flag the site as unsafe, blocking access, which makes maintaining active certificates critical for our forum’s security and availability.

While we are responsible for managing the forum’s software, our hosting provider is responsible for certificate management, and their automated renewal process failed unexpectedly for reasons we’re still investigating. As a temporary fix, our administrator generated a new certificate, which was applied to our main server, resolving the error and restoring normal access.

Please note that this is a temporary solution, which will expire in early January. We will perform an update again if necessary, but more importantly, we are urgently pressing our hosting provider for a permanent fix to ensure seamless renewals. We may need to repeat this process if delays persist. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we resolve this critical issue.

If you see the certificate date error again, rest assured its being worked on.

EDIT: If you are knowledgeable about LAMP stack -- I'd love some help!!

Thank you,
Forum Admin Team

Thank you for all your work supporting this forum! It’s such a great place.

OH, I agree completely! I've made such good friends with people here, virtually, and some even IRL. My bigger regret is that the Star Trek teleporter hasn't been fully investigated yet, it would be great to be able to remove the hours drive to many of you!

No one has mentioned it yet, but I also finally figured out how to fix the 'logo' too ;) @Cary Winch I picked what I thought might look right --- if you have a preference, it's easy to change. I want to rework the color set too to match the campinn color palate as well.

I will be taking the forum down in the near future -- I will put up a notification as well. I want to do some tests and drills, and want to have it clean an 'offline' while I do what I need --- probably the next rainy saturday afternoon.

Y'know I'm only half joking...
I've seen a couple inflatable hot tubs at RV campgrounds since 3 years ago...you need cheap water and cheap power...so;

Wouldn't make any sense for my style of camping- boondocking far from the maddening KOA tin canyon crowds...

But that propane hot water heater with the filtered extension hose to draw from a stream...

Has me dreaming...

WAY too much trouble for out-n-ins, or short trips but if you had a semi permanent spot like Jenn, or the Captains Hideaway that Sweeney found in FL...it could make a lot of sense for soaks...

What we really need is a network of CampInn Glampinn spots...like HipCamp, in someones back forty...any one camp at the Nest?

Lotsa free firewood, they'll lend ya the key to shower and no fees...

... I almost did on pickup but chickened out with a blizzard on the way...

Very stylish! Thanks again for all the hard work on this site.

I've got an intex, the 'big brand' in the space, except perhaps softub which may be better....not sure.

The intex are great for a quick "I need a warm soak...." but not very comfortable --- the material is very plastic, and just is not "satisfying" --- I would use a hot tub once a week if I owned it, after the initial novelty wears off. This is where the intex is great....it gets drained.

Big downsize? $30 a month incrase in the electric bill....not cheap!

At my summer camp someone did have one of those inflatable hot tubs this year. Very tempting.

Cary has done a lot of work on the campinn campground. I pulled in there this year to spend a night but with that big storm coming I decided to get to the Castle and set up with a power post and have the flushes closeby.

The teleporter option for the CampInn should only be offered after the hot tub, which I hear is close, very close.
You know... "technically" I believe every CampInn has the hot tub option already installed. One just has to do a bit of prep work, and decide that a VERY shallow hot tub is all you wanted.

- Remove all bedding and mattress.
- Remove the cover(s) from the understorage bins.
- Remove any items you may have stored in those understorage bins.
- Fill Understorage bins with hot water (How you obtain that hot water is up to you)
- Carefully adjust (some part) of your body into the tub of hot water... aka, the Hot Tub.

What fits: 1 elbow OR 1 foot. Do not place any significant weight during usage of the Hot Tub. Any other usage of the Hot Tub (aka, tub that happens to have hot water) is not recommended.

:D

Isn't that wonderful? I was amazed at how much bigger and easier it is to move around in! I've spent a couple nights there over the years, and I hae to say --- its impressive!

I have one -- the filtration in them is woefully inadequate as is the heat. Little 120 volt pump just can't really move enough water and generate enough heat. I takes a LONG time to heat and looses heat --- 104 is too hot for me (its maximum) I like mine close to 100 but in weather that you want to really use a hot tub (cool nights, like in the low 50's) that temperatures drops off fast especially if you use bubbles.

Are they worth it? maaabe, but probably not all year --- just for those few peak weeks.

Our electric price fluctuates but is 11 to 16 centes per kw. (16 is peak, bascially 8-5 M-F) and we ran one of these for a coupel months. It was about $25 just for this single appliance. I know my rates are super cheap compared to other places....I was watching a youtuber talk about is Cali prices at 4 or 5 times those amounts. Yikes!!!!

One thing...and I"m serious. How did a thread about a flaw that brought the forum down change from an "Ok guys...here's what happened" to a discussion about hot tubs. To make it worse, I think I have a hand in starting it!!!!

Ohhh, Saunas are Craig's area of expertise.

Cary
Haha...and its undiubtedly an engineered marvel too!

For the record,
Sweeney you started this OT with the teleporter reference...

Now, back to certificates...
GoDaddy used to have some great marketing IIRC,

but the one time I tried setting up a website with their hosting it was not so good.

So, sorry for your pain.
Thanks for the hard work here!
