Great town. We stopped in to Mary Todd's Workers Bar & Grill, which I think is now the Workers Tavern - a great old place in the shadow of the bridge...

I’m planning a four day trip to just Astoria. I’m doing 15 parks in 18 days and don’t have much time to explore. But this trip was just to see what is along the coast for longer trips.
We sure loved the PNW. It'd be nice to get back and spend a few weeks exploring WA & OR.

OK - I have to jump in - having lived in both states. One coast isn't "better" than the other. The are just different. Yes - Oregon is more accessible and is traveled much more - the Washington coast is more remote - especially as you get further north towards the National Park. In some spots the nearest road is miles away and provides for some great multi-day backpacks.
Oregon on the other had has crabbing in Tillamook Bay, Cape Meares and the cheese factory, Bandon Dunes (some of the best golf courses in north america), Moe's clam chowder and the iconic Cannon beach area with Ecola State Park and Haystack Rock.
Both beautiful - but different.
