Sat TV - Dish? or Direct?

I know, I know, before you go on the "...but it's camping" Rant...

I was just wondering if anyone "Else" has a preference between the two.

I'vr read that Dish is cheaper and the only??? one to have RV sat connection and that Direct is the only one with Sports.

I can't believe that Direct doesn't have some sort of RV/Camping access so wondering if anyone has tried or read up on them.

We have Dish. We use Dish Anywhere when traveling to view live TV and recordings. You just need a descent WiFi connection. When without good WiFi, we use a 4G Verizon router, but that uses a lot of data, so we limit video streaming. When we have neither WiFi nor 4G we figure it is time to read a book.

With Dish you can download recorded programs to a mobile device, which is handy. You can pre-load your device before heading to the boonies. I've seen RVs with portable satellite dishes, but I don't know how well they work. Do they require a data connection to function?
 
I was thinking of the portable Sat as the linking factor instead of wifi... You would use the "Hopper" with the wifi or the Sat. The Hopper just converts whatever signal you're throwing at it.?

I'm guessing the wifi, like at a KOA is Sloooowww as molassas in the winter time, so I'm guessing again wouldn't work very well. I have, and am about to renew, the Verizon Data plan 5-gigs with the new Jet, no longer need the router (one less thing to mess with) but 5 gig is gone purdy darn quick with 2 movies - done... I was saving that for the internet and uploading photos etc.

With a Sat dish, then you wouldn't need wifi, just a clear shot at the sat? does that sound about right?
And as I understand it, the Anywhere plan is as needed, like $20 extra to the regular Dish plan.
