Stanley is an awesome place..there are a couple really nice hot springs close....bit of a hike but we'll worth it...

I couldn't believe my eyes either, when I found this thread!

Last month I took a fall colors trip to the Eastern Sierra (from SoCal) and then up into Idaho. At the very last minute I found out some friends were going to be in Sun Valley so I extended my trip and cut across the state where I spent the night in Stanley before heading south to Sun Valley. It truly is a spectacular area to visit. I may spend some time there again next June when I return home from picking up my 550. If you have not been there, I highly recommend a visit.

These are the Sawtooth Mountains overlooking the Salmon River as it flows by Lower Stanley.

There are also a couple of beautiful lakes nearby, Stanley Lake and Redfish Lake.

Also some very pristine hot springs in the area, make sure to.do some research on those, the best involve a 5+ mile hike, but well worth it, no crowds and simple incrediable...have stayed at Redfish Lake i. Sept. great place also, and an abundance of wildlife..
