The "Dew Drop Inn" Chronicles

Jenn, lifted this from the email sent to me...

Sing Sea Shanties at the Cellar Door
June 11, 6:00 - 10:00pm

What better place to sing shanties than the entry to the infamous Shanghai tunnels of Port Townsend? The Cellar Door on Water Street and Tyler, across Tyler from the Palace Hotel, Mike James hosts, kids are OK until 10 o’clock. This is probably the last reminder you'll get from me before June 11, so mark your calendars. Annie

Sing Shanties Song Circle - Port Townsend, WA

Fare well and adieu you fair Spanish ladies,
Fare well and adieu you ladies of Spain.
For we've received orders for to sail to old England,
We hope in a short time to see you again.

I know some others, but they're not repeatable in polite society.

Camp on,

Sue

Jenn, folks do come for a couple hours then catch the last ferry out of town.

Sue, in some sea shanty circles they have the tame lyrics early on then as the kids fall asleep the real bawdy stuff starts flowing.

The last voyage of the Bounty is a tragic heart wrenching story. I was fortunate to sail on this great ship many years ago when she was home ported in Miami. Thanks for the link Jenn.

Wonderful, see you tomorrow. I use my IPhone for pretty much everything on the forum, pictures, text, etc. Makes it really easy, just the one device.

Michael

Sorry to hear you missed the ferry. It was a good turn out, about 40 people, some really good voices this month, course the circles are not always held at a tavern so the booze helped to get everyone loose so the the songs really flowed. Hope to see you next time.

"Yachting" is not all it's cracked up to be, I just spent this last week on my knees, ouch! (my poor aching knees) scraping sanding and varnishing.

This is more like it!!!!

Dewey at Fort Townsend SP

Sadly it's back to varnishing tomorrow.

That set up looks much more relaxing the scrapeing and sanding but when you are sailing......

Funny and so Michael, do you get to hold up the floating bridge when you want to go through?? heheh, sigh, sorry man, just sit back at Klamath Falls relaxing and bored... so everyone is gonna suffer..

Hava good one..

Hi Frank, nice looking campsite, love the grass and sunshine.

Yeah for sure eh, boys and their toys! Actually I don't own this sailing kayak but have been playing around with the idea of having something like this along when we go camping, something lite and car top able. Susan took that picture of me at this years North West Paddle Fest at Lake Sammamish SP in Issaquah this past May while I was out test sailing it. It's made by Easy Rider Kayaks, very nice set up and way under 100 pounds. So who knows, might be in our future.

...doomp! doomp! doomp! doomp! doomp! doomp! ... yes Susan and Alan we're gonna need a bigger boat!

Lee49, love the Hobie mirage drive, also a nice sail package.

Frank, hope springs eternal!

An update on our quest to use rechargeable devices while camping... Susan and I were at REI yesterday and we just had to have this Goal Zero USB charger for AA and AAA rechargeable batteries.

We use a cig light socket splitter so we can run our reefer and charge stuff at the same time.

photo19.jpg

We camp with a few things that are not rechargeable, batteries only.

Gotta keep the dentist happy

65 bucks for the charger, 4 AA and 4 AAA rechargeable batteries.

hmmm so now I'm little confused... the batt recharged is a 12v thingie...? is that the new part as I don't see a solar panel attached?
which means it would work off the regualar 12v battery system too?

As it happened, I just drained my Garmin GPS (hand held) and was in need of a charged, I thought I already had...

Is that the "New Thing" that they now have a 12 battery charger?? I've been using recharges for years with the UW Photo gear, in fact some are giving out to old age I guess, but a 12v recharger would be Kewl... If nothing else, so I don't get confused when I'm Lost.. heheh...

Yes Frank, that's right, we've had a 110 volt AC AAA and AA battery charger for years, don't like to use it in the trailer because we have to use an inverter which is very hard on the trailers battery, plus it's a pain to get it out and plug it in etc.etc. With the Goal zero you plug the supplied USB cable into a USB/cig lighter plug adapter, so straight 12 volt, so no loss of power for the inverter, it's very efficient. Goal Zero does have a small solar panel option that you can use to power the charger, we didn't get that because we have our 120 watt panel.

Michael

Ok, kewl...

I'll put it one the list and maybe the small panel just to test the waters etc....

Thanks for the heads up... sigh, but now I have nothing else to blame for getting lost in the woods... heheh...

Oh well, looking forward to the "Witch".. heheh...

Whoa Nellie indeed, if you got a hitch on her you could take LeDroppe into some pretty remote places, now that would be boondocking! Have fun!
