The Long Wait put to Verse

Old_Prospector

Junior Ranger
After a long trip of motels, diners and laundry mats,
I began looking for a small pull-behind house on wheels;
When up pops tiny Raindrop trailer on the internet,
Complete with all the comforts of couch, bed, and kitchen meals.

I said to self, can you afford it? And replied, “you bet.”
So I signed the purchase order and mailed the down payment.
Cary informed me it would be early July to get.
Now I sit, plan, and wait for the delivery statement.

In February I will pilgrimage to Necedah,
To visit the Mother Ship that makes these Tiny Campers,
And tweak the final order to build my custom trailah’,
Then see the construction photos of baby in Pampers.

Patience has never been my strong suit, or so I’ve been told
But waiting builds good character, as opined by wise men.
I must occupy my days to get past the winter cold;
So when summer arrives, I can hit the trail – just campin’.

Heheh, kewl OP....
When i first saw them, friend built his, I said to 'Myself', "Self", now that is kewl...

The best of both worlds...
Inside warm, dry and toast'n;
Outside cooking and mighty-fine Host'n...
(sigh, well I tried to rhyme it hehehe)

Now you get to "outfit" it...
and that's the fun part too...

"Happy Trails...."

fun..

Here's mine:
We dream of our Camp Inn trailer
Made for these overland sailors
Cozy bed to sleep in
Fine kitchen for eatin
Now our dreams of a travel future are well tailored.

Yes, Yes. More rhymes, and limericks count too.

Good contributions Gina and Frank.

Winter is not generally ideal camping weather (at least in this part of the world), so it's time for fun and creativity in the literary venue. So let's see more poetry.

There once was a man from Nantucket
He tried to camp in an old rust bucket
But the bed was too small
No headroom at all
So he gave up and said...er, wait, this is a family forum.
So he gave up and said, I'll no longer tough it

Instead I will find something more stylin
Something I will look more "fly" in
a 560 will do
a 550 will too
Finally, no more rain will I be stuck in.

Here's another.

Whether 550 or 560 matters not
It’s a great little home on wheels that you bought
So plan a trip
Pack up and split
And use those camping skills that your father taught

I grew up camping in tents
A young man with no money or sense
But as I grew old
Tired, wet and cold,
Out the door the old tent, went.

It was time to seek out a change
Something for the home on the range
A teardrop I found
So easy to tow round
and now I don't wake up deranged.

And one for the CampInn Crew

When I saw the teardrop, my eyes they did glaze
as I sat awe, my mind was ablaze
Twas a fine piece of work for sure
One that held a certain allure
On travels it was sure to amaze

The team does work hard to please
They make it look like it is done with ease
A trailer built to last
The wait goes by quite fast
In your hands you will soon find your keys

Tis true the CampInn is a work of art,
and their service does warm the heart
Hats off to the team
It's no longer a dream
For teardropin I can finally take part.

Thank you he said with a nod,
It's quite fun and even a bit odd,

While it would be fun to do this day long,
Ignoring my work would be wrong

For it is work that pays for the trailer
Allowing me to be the road sailor ( ;) to GinaNBob)

Alas, it's back to the grindstone I go
for it waits for no man, you know?
Calls I must make
Meetings I take
So for the weekend I can enjoy my rolling chateau

There was a frail fellow named Vie
Whom tent camping could never abide.
To spare his soft skin,
He bought a Camp Inn
And slept safe in a shiny steel hide.

Not good, but quick

Camp On

Sue

Over the hills and through the trees
To the sea shore away from freeze
Lower down the jacks
Sit back and relax
Enjoy life and the ocean breeze

One last fun one for the evening...

A campground it is that I seek
One with green grass and tall trees
But my eyes grow weary
and the drive grows dreary
and my bladder says it's time to pee

So off at the next exit I start
It's late and the night she is dark
No campground in sight
Oh my what a plight
I'll have to settle for the lot of Walmart

This has been the silliest topic to follow but it has been a lot of fun!
Happy New Year to all!
Now, back to the football!
Roll Tide!

Gina

Old has been exchanged to usher in the new,
Wish happy two-thousand fifteen to all of you.
Being a true optimist, next year will be best;
New adventures and travels to the east and west

From sun-up to sundown explore the vast terrain.
Trekking forests, mountains, lakes and coasts is not vain,
But it’s how to gather ken of the land we live.
What pleasure to yourself and children you will give.

When the sun goes down and looking up to see blue,
May skies be clear to have stars and planets to view.
By staying far away from artificial light
Take a Planisphere to learn the names of the night

From a line by Roy and Dale, “happy trails to you.”
Hope our paths cross to share a cup of Joe, or two,
And so we can swap stories and toast to success.
May your future be happy, healthy and prosperous.

Twas the night before New Years, and all through the house
Creatures were stirring, at least those not passed out
Time to ring in the new year, all said with a cheer
Open the wine, champagne and bring out some beer

So, enjoy tonight for tomorrow is hungover
It happens every year for those that aren't sober
Aspirin might help or hair of the dog
No matter how you slice it, you head it will fog

But let's end this diddy on a more lively reply
For these years go by fast, don't let life pass you by
Share love with your family, your friends and your neighbors
Live in the now, each moment to savor

For 14 was good, but 15 will be better
Rise to the occasion and be the trend setter
Enjoy friendships and make new ones too
So, out with the old year and in with the new

Happy new year and blessings to all!
