Ok here is my story, and I’m sticking to it. As noted above I had been having issues with my Dometic CF35. Now while I am the 1st user of this cooler, I’m not the original owner. When I bought my barely used 560 it came with a lot of the options. The original owner had a life change from the time he ordered it till the 6 months later time it was ready for delivery. Anyway he picked it up and a month later sold it to me. He only slept in it 3 nights and the cooler had never been used. It was still in it’s original plastic wrap. Anyway it worked for a while but I’d have to say was always a little funky. Didn’t like to change temp and other electric issues. Worked but I didn’t really trust it. At first I thought running it in the galley while traveling overheated it but others didn’t seem to have the problem. It got rained on a time or two and I thought that may have been the problem, but a cooler should be able to be rained on! Anyway after 2 years the panel locked up and I couldn’t do anything. ON/Off button didn’t work at all. Temp couldn’t be changed. A photo of the panel is in my post above. The compressor was running and it was freezing water but you couldn’t make it do anything else. So I decided to email Dometic Customer Service and see if they could guide me through some troubleshooting or SELL me a new mother board. My first contacts with CS were less then helpful. I got an automated email back saying it was their busy season and they would get to me when they could. A week or so later I got a message telling me to check the emergency switch to make sure it was set to normal and I had everything plugged in correctly. Dah! I told them I had checked all that. Nothing for about 2 weeks and I was getting a bit frustrated so I shot off an email that was calm but a suggestion that they put the customer service back in the Customer Service Department! Again I was not looking for anything other than some guidance in getting this $750 cooler back working again. We are now at 2 years and 3 months after purchase, and I’m owner #2 so it’s out of warranty as far as I’m concerned. My email I guess hit a nerve and I got bumped up to a higher level, ie Jim. Well Jim looked at my photos, asked me to send him a copy of the original invoice (which I had from the original owner), the serial #, and a photo of the data sticker. I sent that off to Jim and a day later he informed me they weren’t sure what the problem was so they were sending me a brand new cooler and I could dispose of the old one as I see fit! Two days later it arrived! Pictures of the new and old attached. I really like the new cooler. The lid design is much better than the old one. It opens two ways, both front and rear, and by holding both latches at the same time the whole top comes off. It’s also a bit bigger and the plastic is smoother and a lighter color. The sizes are as follows; Old cooler, Length 22 1/2”, Depth 14”, Height 15 1/8”. New cooler L 23”, D 15 1/2”, H 16”. The interior is a bit bigger and better designed space. I have the handles on the new one as we will be now carrying it in the tow vehicle and not the galley. Not sure if this slightly larger size will fit in the galley space anyway. The new one does NOT have the side lips to stick your finger tips in if you don’t want to add the handles. If your carrying it without handles you will have to grab it by the bottom. The plastic is smoother and slicker than the old. Now I still want to get the motherboard for the old one and see if I can make it work again. Then I’ll have a freezer too!
