I'm a little slow on the uptake here - but to answer Stan's question from a month ago, and to just give a general report on my sound system: in short, I could not be happier with my set up. I had so much angst about which direction to go (built in system versus portable.) For ME - going with the built in system has been perfect. Music is a huge part of my life, so this seemed like such an important decision. In retrospect, as important as music is to me, I do find that I have the system OFF the vast majority of the time that I am camping (which is how it should be I think.)
But sometimes - I just gotta hear something. At those times it is so nice to not have to set anything up. Sometimes its because I'm just in a certain mood, other times its to provide my own white noise to drown out some distracting noise from fellow campers. It is nice to not have any set up or clutter, but to just hit a few buttons and have instant music in the cabin, the galley or both.
The special Underground speakers in the cabin work like a charm. (See the link in a post of mine earlier in this thread.) They have great bass while still preserving clarity on the high end sounds. Cary/Craig and crew did a fantastic job installing them. I have done various experiments, and I can have the volume turned up quite high and as long as I have all of my windows, skylights, and fans shut - it can barely be heard outside the camper.
The real icing on the cake for me has been the ability to use this system as my audio for the TV/VCR. Wow! Home theater-like sound in my tiny trailer! Rainy afternoons or evenings become a fun chance to watch a DVD of a favorite movie.
I would be DELIGHTED to show off the speakers and/or system to anyone at CICO next week. Alternatively, if anyone ever has any questions on specifics, I'd be happy to answer them here.
