    Running Away

Sue, and Jenn, and maybe Jim, You all need to take one of your winters, pull your CI's down to warmer climates, set up camp and then settle down and write your journals. or maybe even a collaboration. You two can flat tell a story and keep ones interest. Then throw in the photos.... I think it...

You know this is awfully cruel, to be teasing with a "one of a kind"! I could understand it if it was introducing a new model, you know like the auto manufacturers, but this is a one and only!

    Campground recommenations near Necedah?

Biggie, you had better plan on the major part of the day to meet the tear drops. Since you will get to see both styles, the questions generated will be over whelming. Also as you walk away, you are going to turn back and sigh. Your drive home, will be the start of you planning what you want, and...

Now ya got me scratchin my head. I am a 66 yr old lazy fat man, but I don't need a motor to put down or lift up my stabilizers. My motor goes every where with me.....my arms and hands. Next thing you'll want is a motorized tongue wheel.

    Campground recommenations near Necedah?

Castle Rock is the camp ground that the CI-CO gathering is held. The sites in the area we camp are "roughly" marked, there is electric, but no water at the sites. The showers are pay as you go, 50cents goes along way. Sites are geared towards tents, so the CI fits in nicely. "a hard tent on...

Re: Beeswax seasoning over Crisco?? If your oil seasoning is truely carbonized, the beeswax won't know the difference as it will be a carbon as well.

NO. I haven't cleaned or seasoned the pots yet, also, it is a turkey roaster not fryer. I am going to use the lid as a deep fryer for CHICKEN! I love fried chicken, and I haven't found ANYPLACE locally that does a good fried chicken. The best I have found is at Golden Corral, and that is 30...

Sue, the oil, or crisco shortening, is a very good seasoning, so by all means use your pot. Take your time, and then when you find some "pure" beeswax, just wipe your cooking surface with it melted on a lint free cloth, and you can heat it up to carbon it on the stove top.

Re: Beeswax seasoning over Crisco?? Certainly. Remember very light coating. If you are just trying it out, and are happy with what you have with the crisco, just do the cooking area with the beeswax.

Good point Betsey, I forgot there are some impure "bee wax" out there. Sue, It is hard to say, Are you confident you have pure bee wax? If not, generally paraffin has been added, to up the melting point of the wax. When you melted your wax did it have a very pleasant aroma of honey with...

    Daily cleaning of Cast Iron

Jamie, I have heard of a similar method. I personally don't use it. I use a plastic brillo type pad, as well as a plastic scraper if needed. Otherwise it is strictly very hot water and my stiff bristled nylon scrub brush. the redidual heat from the exttremly hot water will dry the remaining...
